Profile: Rhys Gillard

Rhys’ passion for creating and building started at an early age with the receipt of a small set of wood working tools at the age of five. This lead first in to a career building theatrical scenery for numerous theatre productions before training at Robinson House Studio which has a reputation for producing some of the most distinctive and highly sought after bespoke furniture in the world, as well as training some of the most exciting new furniture makers in the world.

From his workshop in Bristol Rhys designs and handcrafts unique, personal pieces of bespoke furniture for his clients. Each piece of bespoke furniture produced is individually tailored to the client’s personal requirements.

Rhys starts the construction of each piece of furniture with careful selection of ethically sourced exotic timber, veneers or sustainably grown local hardwood. The results of this process are pieces of furniture that reflect the individual that commissioned the piece, helped in its design and development and that brings delight to the client both visually and in its use.

Whether you are looking for a free standing piece of furniture, a complete set of furniture to finish off a room in your house or even an entire house full, Rhys will work closely with you to make the process straight forward, fun and rewarding.

If you are interested in commissioning a piece of furniture or would like more information, please do not hesitate in making contact.
